City staff told the Coppell City Council on May 13 that several capital and operations projects are advancing and that seasonal services will begin soon.
The City Manager reported that at Magnolia Park Trail “the contractor is starting the Upper Gavion baskets,” Fire Station 5 has contractors “installing landscaping and interior finishes,” and the service center contractor “poured the slab this morning and will be going vertical soon.” The manager also said DART is completing punch‑list items and that the TxDOT Beltline project requires lane closures to finish work on the existing bridge.
On traffic signals, the manager said Freeport signal poles are scheduled to arrive “next couple of weeks” and will be installed thereafter. Veterans Plaza work resumed with silt fence installation and contractor activity this week. Separately, the City Manager said the new Fire Station 5 is expected to open in a “short few months,” though no exact date was given.
Operational and community services announcements included the outdoor pool at the CORE opening for the season on Saturday, May 24, with hours to be posted online at coppelltx.gov/aquatics. The CORE’s 25th anniversary celebration is scheduled for Sunday, May 25 at 1 p.m., with fitness demonstrations, an ice cream truck and family activities.
Council did not vote on any additional funding or budget amendments during the report; items described were progress updates and scheduling information. Staff said they will return with required contract closeouts, timelines and related budget items where applicable.
