Council extends MP Systems laydown yard lease through February 2026 at $3,250 per month

The Verona Common Council authorized an addendum May 12 extending MP Systems Inc.'s laydown-yard lease for approximately five acres of city-owned pit near County Highway PD and Northern Lights Road from Dec. 31, 2025 to Feb. 28, 2026, at a monthly rent of $3,250.
Alder Tucker Long moved the measure and Alder Helmke seconded the motion; the council approved it by voice vote. The staff report said MP Systems uses the site as a staging area for a transmission-related contractor project in Middleton. City attorney Kleinmeyer said there is an outside possibility the city could receive another extension request if the contractor’s project runs longer, which would increase revenue to the city should the council approve any further extension.
Council members noted the city can deny future requests if the site is needed for other municipal purposes.
