At its May 12, 2025 meeting the Brockton City Council confirmed multiple reappointments to volunteer boards, accepted several small grants for city departments and approved transfers on the consent portions of the agenda.
Reappointments confirmed by roll call included Matthew Stanton, Linda Pietronio and Kelly Hanlon to the Beautification Committee; Peggy Curtis and Ruby J. Clay to the Conservation Committee; and Jocelyn Meek, Margaret Moan and Lisa O'Donnell to the Brockton Public Library Board of Trustees. The transcript records these items as read, referred to the finance committee when applicable, and then confirmed by roll call votes; multiple confirmations recorded nine votes in the affirmative for confirmed nominees.
The council also accepted communications from department heads and the mayor regarding smaller grants and transfers: an $11,961.20 Commonwealth Department of Fire Services grant to cover turnout gear for new fire recruits; a $12,000 grant from the National Environmental Health Association to Inspectional Services; a $92,000 acceptance to the Department of Public Works from the Executive Office of Administration and Finance; and a $13,298.05 grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety to the Fire Department. The council accepted and placed these communications on file or adopted them by roll call where recorded. The council adopted a transfer to move $12,000 within animal control from full-time salaries to overtime for the remainder of the fiscal year.
On the consent docket the council also approved payment of small invoices totaling $4,964.92 to Securitas Technology Corporation and Westech for public property services after amending the order to note the payments were to cover fiscal year 2024 unpaid bills; the amendment passed before the roll-call adoption recorded in the transcript.
