District leaders presented a brand refresh that updates individual school logos while creating a consistent, district-wide visual system; the board heard that schools provided input and that logos retain school identities.
Franklin Special School District staff presented a district logo refresh that updates individual school mascots inside a common circular mark to create a more consistent visual identity across schools.
Dr. Decker walked trustees through the updated marks for each school and said the district collaborated with a design firm and school principals to preserve historical elements where desired while bringing visual uniformity. "We really in working with Metal 5 and, of course, the schools and especially the principals, we tried to keep in mind that there are histories behind these logos," Dr. Decker said during the presentation.
The presentation showed side-by-side comparisons for each school, noting that some schools retained much of their previous marks while others were substantially reimagined. Examples cited included a refreshed tiger for Johnson, an updated cubby for Franklin Elementary and a cleaner circle-with-mascot treatment for several schools. Staff said the new marks can be used with optional tags that indicate elementary or middle levels when desired.
Board members asked for questions; the item was informational. Staff said principals participated in logo choices and that individual schools would retain elements of their histories within the new design system.
