Franklin SSD board discusses potential sale to 1 Gen Away; no written offer yet

Board members of the Franklin Special School District discussed a potential purchase and partnership with 1 Gen Away but said no formal written offer was on the table at the time of the meeting.
Tim Stillings, a board member who has been part of the district real estate committee, said the district had discussed possible ways to strengthen a relationship with 1 Gen Away and that those conversations were still at a theoretical stage. "Let's give Chris a little more time to, work through details on his end about any, potential for, projects to work on together. But in essence, we are waiting for a, an offer, a formal offer. An offer to purchase real estate is in writing," Stillings said.
Board members also discussed a reported fundraising figure and timeline. A board member said representatives of 1 Gen Away had indicated they had been fundraising to finalize a purchase, including an amount of $225,000 mentioned during the discussion; district staff said there was internal discussion at 1 Gen Away and no finalized contract had been provided to the board.
District administrators raised a site-security concern specific to Franklin Elementary. Doctor Eslinger and other staff noted that a sidewalk crossing the back of Franklin Elementary's campus would be opposed by the district because of security concerns. "We would adamantly be opposed to a sidewalk," a district leader said, adding that the district could not block the city's approvals but would register opposition to a sidewalk across campus.
Board members said that if 1 Gen Away submits a written offer and related proposals for partnership work, the board would place the item on a future agenda for action. No motion or vote occurred on the property during the meeting.
