El Campo council extends one-year wastewater disposal agreement with Brothers Vacuum

The El Campo City Council approved a one-year extension of a contract allowing Brothers Vacuum and Trucking Services LLC to dispose of pretreated wastewater into the city's system at the Helena Lift Station, the council said at its May 2025 meeting.

City staff told the council the extension would keep the same terms and the same rate of $2.43 per 1,000 gallons for accepted pretreated wastewater; staff also said the city had collected $2,439.73 from the service to date. Staff recommended adoption of Resolution R2025-24 to renew the agreement for one year.

“We've collected $2,439.73 from this service,” said a staff member presenting the item. A councilmember asked, “How do you decide that $2.43 per thousand gallons is market rate?” The staff responder said the rate reflects that the wastewater was pretreated and had made it through the aeration process.

A councilmember moved to approve Resolution R2025-24 as presented; another councilmember seconded. The motion passed with all voting in favor; no roll-call tally was read into the record.

The contract first began in October when the council approved a temporary agreement for the disposal of pretreated wastewater at Helena Lift Station for six months, staff said. The extension approved at the May meeting continues that arrangement under the same terms and rates and will be monitored by city staff.

The council did not record additional conditions or amendments to the resolution during the vote.
