Festus’ Red Barn project wins state and regional preservation awards

City officials told the Festus City Council that the Red Barn renovation project has received multiple awards, including a heritage and conservation remarkable renovation and restoration project award from the St. Louis Council of Construction and a Preserve Missouri award.
A city staff member said the Barn was nominated and won the regional award on March 26 and later received one of eight Preserve Missouri awards for 2025; the project also received a resolution from state Representative Waller. The staff member said the design firm (Bond Architects) was nominated for design firm of the year for the Red Barn project and that the awards pertain to phase one of a multi-phase rehabilitation.
Council members congratulated project staff and volunteers and noted the city will continue subsequent phases with the hope of additional recognition. No council action was required or taken on the award items; the council simply received the announcement and acknowledged the honors.
