Staff said the selection followed a pilot comparing state‑approved screeners and a review by a committee that included academy teachers, literacy specialists and principals. The district already uses multiple diagnostic tools (I Ready, core phonics surveys and fluency passages) and will integrate mClass results into the district—s multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to shape interventions and small‑group instruction.
Amplify will provide in-person training and follow-up coaching for teachers and advisors. District plans call for screening in kindergarten during winter and for first and second grade in late fall, with one-on-one administration requiring about 10 to 15 minutes per student. Staff said the district will avoid unnecessary duplication by removing overlapping assessments where mClass provides equivalent data.
Board members asked that the new screener complement existing assessments and be used selectively in upper grades as needed for targeted assessments. The board approved the selection and asked staff to finalize training and rollout details before the next school year.
