The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) draft state-secondary six‑year plan for 2026–2031 and moved to adopt the plan after there were no public comments.
County staff said VDOT’s residency administrator, Susan Hammond, presented the draft plan at a prior work session and that the plan had been advertised and no public comments were received in advance of the hearing. Staff noted one inquiry from the work session about traffic volume on Hops Hill; that roadway does not meet the threshold this year but can be reconsidered next year when new volume data are published. The board discussed routine maintenance questions, including tree removal on Jacob’s Ladder, and staff said Jacob’s Ladder has been completed.
After closing the public hearing with no speakers signed up, a supervisor moved and the board voted to adopt the plan. The meeting record shows unanimous recorded votes in favor of adoption.
Staff said they maintain a running list of road projects and that projects that do not meet thresholds this year will be revisited as new traffic data become available. The county’s coordination with VDOT will continue on project prioritization and implementing erosion-and-sediment-control or other regulatory requirements for specific projects.
