The proclamation, read at the meeting, praised “Virginia conservation police and all other state and federal law enforcement agencies serving locally” and urged residents to “thank those in law enforcement for important service they provide to all of us.” It called for flags to be flown at half-staff on May 15 in remembrance of officers who “have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
The board moved and seconded the proclamation and adopted it by recorded vote. The meeting included recognition of local officers in attendance, and the chair asked officers present to stand to be acknowledged. The chair also said a signed copy of the proclamation would be provided to law enforcement officials.
The proclamation is ceremonial and requires no further county action beyond distribution of the signed document and flag protocol on the designated day.
