A cluster of Beautification in Action proposals and artist projects came before the Beautification and Public Arts Commission on May 12, bringing a range of neighborhood‑scale proposals — native planting, small public artworks and temporary exhibitions — for funding and design feedback.

The commission heard short presentations from nonprofit leaders and artists and asked technical and durability questions; commissioners also clarified requirements for projects on private property and emphasized coordination with city staff for installation, utilities and ADA access.

Project highlights presented to BPAC: - Willow Bend Reflection & Creativity Area (Willow Bend Environmental Education Center). Executive Director Melissa Ekstrom asked for the full $7,500 request to convert an outdoor area at Willow Bend (in Sawmill Park) with durable benches, recycled‑plastic seating, planters, native plants and an activity cart for free public programming.
