Buena Park introduces recommended assistant principal Arla Little and IT director William Boatman

Superintendent and personnel staff introduced Arla Little as the recommended new assistant principal at Emory and William Boatman as the recommended director of information technology; both spoke briefly about their backgrounds and connections to the district community.
At the May 12 meeting the Board was introduced to two recommended district leaders: Arla Little, recommended for assistant principal at Emory Elementary, and William Boatman, recommended for the district Director of Information Technology.
Chief Personnel Officer Paul Dines read brief biographies for both candidates. Dines said Arla Little has worked in the Buena Park School District for 30 years in roles that include classroom teacher, reading intervention teacher and program specialist; he said she holds a master of science in education and an administrative credential and is looking forward to supporting Principal Rebecca Taylor at Emory.
Arla Little addressed the Board and the audience and said the role was the culmination of a long career in the district: "It's been a journey," she said, adding that she is excited to work with principal Taylor and that she remains "always going to be a teacher, and always going to be a learner." Little introduced family members in the audience and thanked colleagues who supported her over the years.
Dines also introduced William Boatman, who previously served in IT leadership at Pomona Unified School District. Dines described Boatman as a strategic IT leader with experience in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud services and school operations. Boatman briefly introduced his wife and two children and said he looks forward to joining the Buena Park community.
The introductions were presented to the Board as district recommendations; the transcript records the introductions and remarks but does not record a separate, specific confirmation vote on the hires at the May 12 open session.
