Livingston recreation director urges community support for RecPlex project after Prop 68 award; deadline requires two‑year push

Recreation staff told the May 12 town hall that the city has secured Prop 68 grant funding toward a planned RecPlex and is developing a funding and implementation strategy that must meet state grant timeframes.
Recreation Director Jackie said the department serves about 2,200 children annually across programs including youth sports, contract classes and swim lessons (about 500 swim lessons last year) and that community interest supports expanded recreation facilities. “In a year's time, our department enrolls about 2,200 children in all of our programs,” she said.
Jackie and the city manager said the RecPlex team has initial Prop 68 funding in place and that the project timeline requires additional funding and planning steps over roughly two years. The city manager and recreation staff said they will pursue a mix of state and federal grants, foundation support and in‑kind community contributions. “That project is on our website under the recreation…if you want to register, if you wanna know what's going on, go to the cityofLivingston.org,” Jackie said.
Staff said they will bring periodic updates to council, continue grant outreach, and consider fundraising recognition programs for donors. No formal council action was taken at the town hall.
