The board approved a student services staffing change that adds three social workers and creates a special‑education coordinator position.
Administrators said the district will use an existing vacant student services position to create the third social worker, bringing the total to three. "It's 3 total social workers," a district official said. The additional social workers are intended to address rising mental‑health and student‑support needs and to reduce transfers out of the district.
The special education coordinator will be a teacher contract with adjusted days to provide dedicated support and oversight for special education services. District leaders told the board those changes were developed after benchmarking other districts and were supported unanimously by the committee that reviewed the proposal.
Board members praised the plan as both cost‑sensitive and service‑oriented. The board approved the staffing changes following a motion and second at the meeting.
