At its May 12 meeting the East Stroudsburg Area School District Finance Committee approved several vendor renewals and a procurement for school police equipment.
The committee approved renewal of the custom student RFID card contract at $14,002.38. Trustees also approved renewal of the Brightly (formerly SchoolDude) asset-management and facilities software contract for $30,092.38; Dr. Vitale explained Brightly provides asset management and event/facility scheduling functions and is not a payment-processing system for parents.
The committee approved renewing Vector Solutions for mandated online professional learning in the amount of $8,002.29 and accepted an updated insurance package renewal from the district broker Engel, Hambright and Davies for a total amount the administration reported as $1,212,442 across lines of coverage. The administration noted the insurance package's increase was driven primarily by higher property and business-auto costs.
The committee also approved the purchase of 17 Glock 19 Gen5 MOS pistols with Aimpoint optics, magazines and sights from Whitmere Public Safety Group; administration said the purchase is part of the district’s School Police Officer (SPO) agreement approved in April and intended to standardize equipment for resource officers who previously used personal firearms.
All items were moved and approved by the committee. Trustees asked clarifying questions about function (for example, whether Brightly handles payments — it does not) and about timing and supply delays for the SRO procurement; administration said the vendor reported a several-month delay before delivery and the district wanted to move forward promptly to ensure uniform equipment for officers.
