Columbia County approved a $213,000 agreement for Columbia County Community Connections for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, and reduced the program’s administrative fee from $10,000 to $9,500 per year.
Miss Reese, a county staff member presenting the item, said the county has historically provided interim funds to the grant-funded organization to bridge reimbursements from grants. Community Connections made a $12,000 payment to the county this past year, which reduced the outstanding amount from $225,000 to $213,000; staff recommended approval of the new agreement and the fee reduction.
A commissioner asked whether the arrangement cost the county anything beyond the funding advance; Reese replied, “It’s really not costing us anything other than the fact that we funded them some money,” indicating the funds were advances against reimbursable grants and not ongoing direct program costs.
The commission approved the agreement on consent.
Why it matters: The agreement continues county financial support to a local grant-funded nonprofit and adjusts the county’s administrative fee for managing the reimbursement advance.
What’s next: The agreement will take effect July 1, 2025; staff will invoice and reconcile reimbursements per the terms of the agreement.
