"She has accepted role with another organization," said Commissioner 1, announcing the resignation. He added that Hock "has become a a great, professional colleague and and also a friend over the 8 years, 8 plus years that she's been here, 9 years." Commissioners credited her with reducing voluntary employee turnover, improving retention over the last two years, and helping the town receive its first-ever AAA credit rating from both Moody's and S&P. They also said she helped deliver Fire Station 3 "on time, under budget and debt free."
Commissioner 2 said Hock "holds her ground and she made all the decisions to benefit Matthews," praising her ability to learn quickly and to take difficult positions. Another speaker, identified in the transcript as Commissioner 3, called it "an honor to work with you here" and said Hock's leadership had "changed the trajectory of my life in really meaningful and significant ways."
Board members also described an ongoing effort to site the Discovery Place Kids museum at or adjacent to Matthews Elementary School, which commissioners said could provide a roughly 50% cost savings to the town through co-location.
