Lydia, the library’s representative, said summer reading sign-ups began May 1 and participants may begin logging reading on June 1. The library plans art-focused programs for kids, teens and adults including tie-dye, concerts, movies and a house-plant swap scheduled for June 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. A wrap-up event with a squirt-gun obstacle course was also discussed.
Committee members agreed park pop-ups are priority distribution points for tile kits, with the first pop-up on June 17 at Sherwood Acres. They discussed offering activities and step-by-step templates so non-artist families can participate, and considered a short how-to video to be shared with marketing and attached to social posts and hashtags.
Chalk art was discussed as a pop-up activity; committee members confirmed chalk supplies are available in city storage and will check each pop-up site for suitable paved surfaces. They noted that not all parks have pavement pads; Wetmore Park may have limited paved area and the group will confirm site conditions before planning a chalk surface there.
The farmers market kids patch returns this season and the committee requested volunteers to staff the activity. The group agreed to create an online sign-up (SignUpGenius or similar) and asked members to email available time frames so the volunteer schedule can be set.
