The Rockcastle County Board of Education approved a revised job description for the district’s coordinator of district-wide programs that expands the position’s responsibilities to support teaching and learning at the middle- and high-school levels and to assist with facilities tasks related to ongoing construction.
Superintendent and staff told the board the change is intended to help support Mr. Thomas, the district’s coordinator of teaching and learning, and Mr. Trent, the facilities director, who is overseeing the middle-school build and other facilities projects. The revised description keeps the position’s existing compliance and federal-program responsibilities — including site-based council coordination, homeless liaison duties and ESS (federal special education) coordination — and adds support for standards-based programming, Perkins programming and coordination with facilities work.
Staff framed the change as a response to an increased workload across facilities and instruction so that district priorities can be met without overburdening current staff. The board approved the updated description by voice vote.
