Lewis County sets summer closures for two bridge projects, approves bridge retrofit and engineering agreements

The county authorized summer road closures for construction on King Road and Labrie Road, approved a WSDOT local agency agreement for the Series Hill bridge retrofit, and approved a consultant contract for a bundle of preventive bridge maintenance projects.
Lewis County commissioners on Tuesday approved planned road closures for two bridge projects this summer and approved agreements to fund and design additional bridge work in the county.
Public works staff described Resolution 25-132, which closes King Road at milepost 12.262 from July 1 through Oct. 30 to allow work on the King Road Milepost 12.262 bridge scour project. The board also approved Resolution 25-133 to close Labrie Road at milepost 0.459 from July 1 through Oct. 30 to complete the Berwick Creek at Labrie Road fish passage project.
"This is a closure of King Road at Milepost 12.262 from July 1 through October 30 to complete the construction of the King Road Milepost 12.262 bridge scour project," Wes, Public Works, said. He added: "The other resolution ... is a closure of Labrie Road at Mile Post 0.459 from July 1 to October 30 to complete the construction of the Berwick Creek at Labrie Road Fish Passage project." The two closures were moved and seconded as notice items and approved.
The board also approved Resolution 25-137, a local agency agreement and federal-aid prospectus with the Washington State Department of Transportation for the Series Hill bridge retrofit project. "This project is a retrofit to the structure that has a current load restriction of 15 tons," Wes said, adding that the prospectus obligates construction funds for the retrofit at 100% of the engineer's estimate.
Additionally, Resolution 25-138 approves a consultant agreement with David Evans and Associates for structural-engineering services for a preventive maintenance bundle of bridge-preservation projects including Hining Road bridge at milepost 0.23 near Winlock and Galvin Road bridges at mileposts 1.23 and 1.55 near Centralia. Wes said the projects are funded with federal dollars through the local bridge program and are primarily federally funded.
All of the bridge-related resolutions were included in the deliberation package (Resolutions 25-135 through 25-140) that the board moved, seconded and approved during the meeting.
