Lewis County awards historic courthouse rehabilitation Phase 2 contract to DNR Masonry Restoration

Lewis County staff recommended awarding the Phase 2 historic courthouse rehabilitation project to DNR Masonry Restoration after a small-works bidding process, and the commissioners approved the related deliberation items on Tuesday.

Doug Carey, capital facilities, told the commissioners the county received three bids through the MRSC small works process and recommended awarding the project to DNR Masonry Restoration of Milwaukee, Ore., which bid $99,000 against an engineer's estimate of about $110,000. "We received 3 bids, from the MRSC small works process and the low bidder was DNR Masonry Restoration out of Milwaukee, Oregon for $99,000," Carey said.

Carey said the project has an end date of June 30 and that contractors on the phase are progressing toward completing the scope of work. "The end date is still June thirtieth of this year, and both feel that we're well on the way to completing the work outlined in the scope," Carey said.

Carey confirmed DNR Masonry has worked on county projects before. "DNR has done it before," he said. The contract award recommendation was presented as Resolution 25-135 and was included in a package of deliberation items (Resolutions 25-135 through 25-140) that the board moved, seconded and approved.

The vote to approve the package was recorded with the commissioners present voting "Aye," and the motion passed. No amendments to the contract award were recorded during the meeting. The county staff member who presented the recommendation was authorized to sign the contract on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners if the board approved the award.
