During staff communications on May 13, Historic Preservation Division staff provided several informational updates to the Historic Districts Review Board.
Items reported: Senior staff announced the 2025 Santa Fe Historic Preservation Awards scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at San Miguel Chapel and said the public is invited. Heather and Paul briefed the board that the Land Development Code disposition report and final code update materials would be provided to the board ahead of a May 27 study session and that the code update is tentatively scheduled to be introduced to City Council May 28 and reach the board for formal review June 10, with anticipated adoption around July 30 after required board and commission reviews.
Green building code education and general schedule: Staff said an educational session on the green building code will appear on a future agenda to discuss potential impacts on historic properties. Staff noted a recent staffing change: a project manager, Daniel Alvarado, left and staffers Heather and Maggie Moore are managing the code update phase until a new project manager is assigned.
Why it matters: The Land Development Code and green code updates could affect review standards and the way historic resources are treated in building design and environmental regulations; the disposition report will summarize proposed edits and staff responses to previous comments.
Follow up: Staff will circulate the disposition report ahead of the next study session and will return to the board for discussion and possible recommendations during the June hearing calendar.
