Utah association honors American Fork parks and community services staff; Cindy Healy singled out for active‑aging work

Leanne Powell, executive director of the Utah Recreation Parks Association, said the awards reflect statewide review by past association presidents and emphasized Healy's leadership on active‑aging programs and her role in maintaining services for seniors during the COVID pandemic. "Cindy has really led . . . she's always coming up with ideas on how to do better and better and sharing those ideas with folks," Powell said.
The association cited the city's programming across three pillars—health and wellness, environmental stewardship and access for all—as reasons for the Department of the Year recognition. Powell highlighted projects such as trails, grant‑funded capital work and regional cooperative adaptive programs led by staff across Northern Utah County.
City staff accepted the honors and thanked council members for their support. Community Services representatives noted the awards reflect a team effort across parks, recreation, senior services and related maintenance staff.
