The document states that Illinois is home to more than 71,000 farms, that Kankakee County accounts for 738 farms and 322,007 acres, that agriculture supports 6,184 jobs in the county and that agriculture-related sales or output total about $367.5 million. It also says farm property provides roughly 10.8% of the county’s taxable value.
Mister Seeroy moved approval; Mister Miller seconded. The chair put the measure to a voice vote, and the motion carried.
The chair publicly thanked Corbin Collins of the Kankakee County Farm Bureau for bringing the item to the board’s attention.
