Rutherford County staff said the mayor’s office will issue a request for qualifications (RFQ) for architects to provide the county with alternatives to its current architect on file.
Staff explained the county currently uses a single architect (KSA, as stated in the meeting), and the RFQ is intended to build a roster so the commission and building authority can select from multiple firms for future projects. The RFQ is informational at this stage; staff said the commission will review responses and decide whether to accept or reject firms when a specific project requires architectural services.
Commissioners asked whether the building authority could access the same RFQ; staff said they would coordinate with the building authority and counsel to confirm access procedures. No formal motion was requested; staff explained that issuing the RFQ does not constitute acceptance of any firm and that the commission retains the authority to approve selections for individual projects.
