Albanese told the council the goal is to strike a balance that responds to local concerns while preserving opportunities for licensed dispensaries to find locations that meet regulatory requirements.
Council staff scheduled a public hearing on the ZTA for June 17, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. The amendment was introduced; no substantive public testimony was taken at the introduction. Albanese thanked the Town of Kensington and state Delegate Jared Solomon for input during the drafting process.
The proposal is an introduction only; the council did not take a final vote. If the ZTA is set for a public hearing and subsequently adopted, it would change local zoning rules for retail cannabis outlets within Montgomery County.
