The Morgan County Plan Commission approved minor plat MIP 25-08 on May 12, which combines four parcels into a single lot at 6801 State Road 67 North to accommodate county plans for a recycling center yard and related site work tied to emergency medical services planning.
Riley Greenup of Sunco Construction presented the plat on behalf of the Morgan County Commissioners and said the county bought the parcels in July to establish new EMS station sites and to consolidate recycling pickup centers that have experienced illegal dumping at unmanned sites. "Sunco has been working alongside the county, over the last year to establish some new sites for EMS stations," Greenup said.
Before the hearing began a commissioner recused from the matter; the recusal was announced on the record. Planning staff reported the applicant had submitted a full drainage package and that the county reviewer had only a few outstanding questions. Greenup told the commission he expected those questions to be answered the following week.
After the public portion closed a motion to approve MIP 25-08 passed; one commissioner abstained from the final vote and the chair announced the motion carried.
The plat will allow county staff to proceed with site-specific design and construction planning for the recycling yard and EMS-related improvements once outstanding drainage reviewer comments are resolved and standard permitting steps are complete.
