BZA approves raising employee limit for Stettler home workshop to 13

Marshall County—s Board of Zoning Appeals on May 13 approved a special-use modification to increase the allowable employee count at Norman Hill Stettler—s home workshop from the previously permitted 10 employees to 13.
Planning staff explained the applicant—s original approval allowed a home-based business (7 employees) and that the count was later raised to 10; Stettler told the board his operation temporarily rose above 10 due to seasonal demand and he sought formal approval rather than remain in violation. Staff and the Technical Review Committee recommended approval, subject to a positive evaluation of the business— current operations and any applicable health-department review.
Stettler said growth had been driven by order backlogs and the need to meet customer demand; he said he did not currently plan further expansion and would return to the board if future increases were needed.
Trent moved to approve the increase to 13 employees; Don seconded. The motion carried by voice vote.
