Morristown council introduces three ordinances, adopts handicap-parking change and pool-concession contract

The Morristown Town Council on Feb. 11 introduced three ordinances and adopted an amendment to a local handicap-parking rule, and the council approved a concession agreement for the Burnham Park Pool concessionaire for the 2025 season.
By title the council introduced ordinance O-6-2025, which would supplement the town code (chapter 7, traffic) with regulations for movement and parking on municipal property and board of education property. Council members voted to introduce the ordinance and to consider it at a public hearing on Feb. 25.
The council also introduced ordinance O-7-2025, which would add section 3-34 to chapter 3 to prohibit camping within the town of Morristown. Council members discussed the need to ensure social services are available for people affected by enforcement and noted county-level services in Morris Plains; the ordinance will also be considered at the Feb. 25 public hearing.
Ordinance O-8-2025, amending chapter 10 (filming) to add a fee schedule for use of public property for advertising and promotional photography and video, was likewise introduced by title for a Feb. 25 hearing.
The council held a public hearing and adopted ordinance O-3-2025, amending chapter 7 (traffic) section 7-40.2 to update the placard number assigned to a dedicated handicap parking space on Columbus Street. The adoption passed on a roll call of present members.
On resolutions, the council approved Resolution R-45-2025, authorizing an agreement with Poppy’s Concession to rent space and provide concession services at the Burnham Park Pool during the 2025 season. Council members praised the vendor as a local resident-run business and approved the contract by voice vote.
Council President confirmed the introduced ordinances will be scheduled for public hearings and further consideration on Feb. 25; O-3-2025 is adopted and the concession agreement is in effect for the 2025 season.
