Lee County Facilities Update: LED Upgrades, Flooring, Soundproofing, Sealcoating and Other Maintenance

Facilities staff gave a multi-site maintenance report covering the Law Enforcement Center, New Courthouse, Old Courts and Animal Control, listing completed LED upgrades, near-complete Fourth Floor flooring and scheduled sealcoating among other items.
Facilities & Maintenance staff provided the committee with a set of operational updates spanning county sites, including the Law Enforcement Center (LEC), New Courthouse, Old Courts and Animal Control.
At the LEC, staff said they resolved an outlet problem used for medical devices after discovering an on/off control and continue troubleshooting an economizer on a unit. Staff reported installing a bike-rack storage cabinet, a gun rack, and completing mulch work.
On lighting, LED lamp replacements are complete on the first and second floors and the third-floor hallways; only a few offices and courtroom 330 remained to be converted before the building is fully upgraded. Fourth-floor flooring at the New Courthouse is about 98% complete; the remaining work depends on state information-technology staff removing racks and servers from the FTR Room so flooring can be installed there.
Staff said most courtroom ceiling soundproofing is finished; minor tweaks remain around the jury room adjacent to the areas identified as Judge Ackard’s and Draper’s. Facilities reported a valve rebuild for backflow testing at New Courts remains pending and was noted as an item previously discussed.
Parking-lot sealcoating and striping at the New Courthouse is scheduled for the end of the month on the 30th and 31st; staff asked people to move vehicles before the work begins and said work would likely start around 4:30–5:00 p.m. and conclude so lots reopen Monday. The custodian van has been assigned to custodian Matt Chandler to replace shared-use vehicles. Animal Control’s kennel siding is scheduled for July, and staff said they are still waiting on iPads from the IT department for Facilities Management work-order processes.
Old Courts north doors now have new hinges, closers and ProCom-installed card readers; the doors will be on a controlled schedule (opening at 8:00 a.m. and closing at 4:30 p.m.) with card or key access for exceptions. Facilities staff reported an unresolved generator issue and a slow leak under investigation; rain patterns have limited detection. Staff said they will continue routine grounds work at Lee Center School and will coordinate with the highway department for equipment as needed.
Committee members did not take formal votes on these items during the meeting. Staff requested no new work orders and said specific cost figures, timelines for some repairs or exact work-order dates were not provided during the report.
