Council to add adjoining lot to Little League lease for snow removal, batting cage access

The Kenilworth Borough Attorney reported that an addendum will be prepared to include an adjoining, narrow lot used for the Little League batting cage in the Little League field lease.
The amendment is intended to clarify that the adjoining parcel — which is small and wedged between the field and the Department of Public Works property — is part of the leased recreational area and that the Little League will be responsible for snow and ice removal on that lot. The attorney said the addendum will require the Little League to indemnify and hold the borough harmless for issues related to the snow removal.
The council directed staff to prepare the lease addendum so the Little League’s use of the small lot and the related maintenance responsibilities are clearly documented. The attorney noted the lot’s peculiar shape results from an old railroad right-of-way; the change is intended to avoid future uncertainty about which party is responsible for clearing snow and maintaining access to the batting cage.
No formal roll-call vote was recorded on the addendum at the meeting; the attorney indicated staff would draft the addendum and proceed with the usual administrative steps.
