Kenilworth officials say health, code and police closed an illegal cosmetology operation

Kenilworth elected officials told the Borough Council that a cooperative inspection by the health department, code enforcement and the Kenilworth Police Department led to the closure of an illegal cosmetology business operating in the borough.
Councilwoman Giordano Picerno (Health, Education and Welfare liaison) reported that the departments worked together after an inspector, Chris Demko, discovered the operation. "It was determined that they were not selling what they were supposed to be selling, and it has been closed down," she said on the public record.
Council members thanked the health department, the code enforcement officer and the police for the coordinated response. The borough said the health department will repost a previously filled REHS (registered environmental health specialist) position after a candidate declined the role; in the interim the borough continues to use shared inspection services and daily coverage during specified hours.
