Council plans quick action to update voting districts and voting centers to reflect annexations
Summary
Council discussed timing to adopt an ordinance updating voting district and voting center descriptions to include recent annexations; staff said the change only incorporates annexations and does not alter district lines, and recommended double‑voting or a special meeting to meet a six‑month pre‑election deadline.

Council members reviewed an ordinance to update voting-district descriptions and voting-center locations to reflect annexations since the last election and discussed scheduling to meet an election‑law deadline.
Staff said the item (Ordinance 254610.3 in the agenda phrasing) simply incorporates annexations and does not change district lines established in the state system. Because election law requires updates at least six months before the election, staff asked whether the council preferred a double vote on the 19th or a special meeting to finalize the ordinance.
Councilmembers agreed to try to complete both readings at the regular meeting on the 19th if possible and to schedule a special meeting only if necessary. Staff also noted an existing voting-center change to the Fort Mallard Grill had been voted on previously and is understood by the city clerk (Stephanie) as part of the update.
