Mason County seeks volunteers for TIPCAP, Planning Advisory Commission and other citizen boards

Mason County commissioners on May 13 heard staff requests for volunteers to fill several advisory board vacancies, including seats on TIPCAP (the county's transportation citizens advisory committee), the seven‑member Planning Advisory Commission (PAC), the Board of Equalization and the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.
Public Works for the county invited applicants to TIPCAP, saying the committee “makes recommendations on the 6 year tip and annual construction plan and other transportation plans” and meets roughly once per month for about two hours to gather community input.
Staff described the PAC as a seven‑member citizen board that advises the Board of County Commissioners on amendments to the comprehensive plan, the shoreline master program, resource ordinances and other development regulations, including rezone recommendations. The PAC typically meets at least once per month on the third Monday but has been meeting more frequently during a comprehensive plan update. Staff said appointed PAC members normally serve four‑year terms. The county announced a PAC at‑large vacancy with a term expiring January 2029 and a District 1 vacancy (Belfair/Allen/Harstine Island area) with a term expiring January 2026.
Staff also said applications are available on the county website or from the commissioners’ office (forms available and a contact number was read during the meeting). The Board of Equalization is seeking both a regular and an alternate member; terms run three years and expire May 31 of the third year. The commission also approved reappointments to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee with terms through May 31, 2027 during the action agenda.
