The Roswell mayor and council approved the final plat for The Groves at Myrtle Street, authorizing a revised development of 27 townhomes with reduced retaining walls after prior city review and redesign.
Planning staff said the project originally proposed 30 townhomes and a taller retaining wall that the mayor and council denied in January 2023. The developer revised the plan and reduced the retaining walls so they are under the six‑foot threshold; the revised preliminary plat was approved by the Planning Commission in February 2024.
Under the final plat now approved, the project will have 27 townhomes (12 front‑loaded facing Bridgecrest Road, 15 rear‑loaded facing Myrtle), underground detention with an above‑ground stormwater pond, and 11 guest parking spaces. Staff said the detention pond wall and eastern property line retaining wall are reduced to a maximum height of 5 feet 9 inches.
Miss Payton presented the history of DRB approvals dating to 2021 and explained that reductions in retaining‑wall height and lot count followed Planning Commission direction. Council member Northland moved the item; Council member Beeson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Council member Beeson noted a recusal later in the agenda on an unrelated engineering contract citing an existing standing contract; staff recorded the recusal for the record. No further discussion was raised during the final plat vote.
