Board unanimously approves a slate of public-works, health, fire and administrative items; public comment on long-running monument matter

The Merced County Board of Supervisors on a series of unanimous votes approved multiple consent, departmental, and appointment items covering public works, behavioral health, human services, the district attorney’s office, fire services, libraries, elections, human resources, board business and appointments (agenda items 21–38).

Public comment on public works items 21 and 22 included testimony from a family involved in a local monument business. A speaker identified in the transcript as Michelle described a multi-decade effort and urged the board to "please accept the resolution," saying, "It's taken 30 years to get here. Like I said before, 5 public works directors. My family's been in the monument business since 1880. My dad's still working in chipping stones at 88." Michelle added that the action would "make our family whole." The board then moved to votes on items 21 and 22; Supervisor McDaniel moved, Supervisor Pereira seconded, and the motion "unanimously passes."
