Blanca Lucrecia Lozano Davila told the Merced County Board of Supervisors during public comment that the Delhi Parents Community, known as DPC, has been active for 18 years and credited founders Medea and Socorro Casares for organizing parents and training families.
“Today is a special reward. Thank you for the nominate. God bless you. God bless you,” Davila said, referring to a recognition she received at the meeting.
Davila said the group brings parents together to prepare families with training in areas such as health and school engagement and named longtime supporters including Annie (Annalie) I. Munoz. She said other families and volunteers have joined DPC’s work over the years.
During the same public comment period, Heidi Sanchez, a Delhi resident, described a new community program she is starting called Advocates Fun Family Circus. Sanchez said the program will offer circus and dance activities, language instruction in Spanish and English, art, cooking and family-focused workshops. She also described a component called “passing flower healing,” aimed at connecting women who have been victims with family resources and support.
Sanchez said the programs will include music and dance traditions; she referenced family influences and said she expects the activities to support socialization and personal growth for participating children and families. “This is something I'm looking forward for the community,” Sanchez said.
Davila and Sanchez cited DPC alongside other local programs that have helped families, including PLTI and Valley Onward. Their remarks were presented as community announcements; no formal board actions or directives were recorded during the public comment period.
