Merced delegation attends Hmong national conference; Hmong American Day event planned May 10

Russo said the national conference, held every two years, brings together Hmong community members from across the United States and internationally to discuss community and economic development.
Russo said the Minneapolis conference highlighted workforce training efforts and cited a technology employment program there sponsored by Comcast. He said organizers hope to “bring those lessons and ideas back here in Merced” and will reach out to local partners to pursue similar initiatives.
Russo said organizers expect 800 to 900 people at the Hmong American Day event on May 10 “at Castle, from 9 to 3,” and that the celebration will include vendors, music and an air show overhead. He said materials and flyers are available for those interested in attending.
No formal board action was taken during the public comment period. Russo’s remarks came during the meeting’s public comment segment and were presented as announcements and community outreach plans.
