Investigation into complaints against School Committee member concludes no policy violation; separate calls continue for outside probe into alleged past cover‑u

An outside law firm reported to the Fall River School Committee on May 12 that evidence collected in two complaints did not support findings that Committee member Kevin Aguilar violated the district’s anti‑harassment or anti‑bullying policies.

Robert Hillman of Valerio, D’Aminello & Hillman, who conducted the investigation, told the committee his work included interviews with the complainants, interviews of witnesses, and a meeting with Aguilar. Hillman concluded the district’s anti‑bullying policy applies only to students and the anti‑harassment policy applies to harassment tied to a protected characteristic; he said the statements at issue were not shown to be directed at a protected characteristic and therefore did not rise to a policy violation.
