District reports English-learner enrollment decline but above-average reclassification rate

On reclassification, the coordinator said Arizona’s statewide reclassification (students leaving EL status after meeting proficiency criteria) is about 14%, while Chino Valley’s rate for the most recent year was 25%. The presenter described the district’s annual reassessment process, called out a year of “tremendous growth” districtwide on the reassessment and offered to answer board questions; no board action was requested.
