Summary
Trustees approved renewal of the Parents as Teachers program and adopted instructional resources for elementary, middle, high school and preschool classrooms following staff presentations.
The Tonganoxie school board approved a renewal of the Parents as Teachers program for 2025–26 and adopted new instructional resources after staff described selection and cost negotiations.
Assistant Superintendent Tanya, staff member, told the board the Parents as Teachers program remains a valued partner that runs a district‑based room and coordinates home visits, play nights and other family engagement activities. She said the program’s renewal fee rose slightly this year but staff recommended continuing the partnership; trustees approved the renewal by voice vote.
Curriculum coordinator Brandy, staff member, presented resource adoption proposals for elementary, middle and high school levels and an additional preschool resource for the district’s three‑ and four‑year‑old classrooms. Brandy said vendors initially submitted higher bids and staff negotiated lower prices before bringing final recommendations to the board. Trustees approved the adoptions as presented.
No additional conditions were attached to the approvals; staff will proceed with purchasing and implementation plans during the summer and return to the board with any required follow‑up.
