John said the firm’s partners rotate coverage when James (a prosecutor) is unavailable, reducing the need for outside special counsel. The council voted unanimously to suspend the rules and approve the one‑year agreement.
Council discussion noted that court fee receipts do not fully cover all court expenses and that overall revenues generated by the court are not sufficient to cover total court costs. The contract is expected to continue routine prosecution work for the municipal court and to provide coverage for appeals.
