Education Foundation reports record fundraising, new grants and expanded programs

The Education Foundation of New Berlin told the board it had a record fundraising year, awarded multiple grants across district schools and is expanding programs that support scholarships, STEM and extracurricular activities.
Julie Cordero, director of the Education Foundation of New Berlin, presented the foundation’s annual update. She said the foundation awarded 10 grants in 2025 totaling $25,943 and reached all six district schools with awards ranging from music and robotics to technical theater and athletics.
Cordero highlighted two partnership funds that underwrote particular grants: the ICHfest Trades Initiative Fund—an Eisenhower alumni group—funded a manufacturing/technology initiative, and the West Athletics and Activities Fund paid for an indoor putting simulator at New Berlin West that the foundation said will reduce future rental costs for practice space. The foundation also said it expects to award roughly $15,500 across 14 scholarships this year, and that 2025 will mark an aggregate milestone of $50,000 in scholarship awards since the program began.
Cordero reported that the foundation’s annual Toast to Education grossed nearly $80,000—about $15,000 above the prior event—with $28,921 returned to clubs and 602 guests attending, plus strong online auction participation. The foundation said it has generated net income of about $1.399 million since 2021, program expenses near $900,000, and more than $231,000 in long‑term investments.
Other initiatives described included $35,000 in pass‑through donations via the foundation’s fiscal sponsorship program, new community fundraising partnerships (parking fundraisers, a fourth‑of‑July family festival), corporate sponsors and grants for performing arts events. Cordero thanked district staff and volunteers and encouraged continued partnership with school clubs and booster organizations.
