The Tippecanoe County Council approved a $2,500 appropriation to the area plan general fund to cover gasoline costs after the department joined the county’s enterprise car program and received a vehicle.
Ryan, representing area plan, said the zoning-enforcement inspector position was filled in February and that the inspector is conducting field inspections. “After it was assigned, we were told that we needed gas money,” Ryan said; he asked the council to approve the appropriation and said the amount should carry them “probably through the end of the year” and the department will reevaluate for the summer.
Councilman Basham moved the appropriation and Councilman Murray seconded; the motion passed on voice vote. The transcript records no additional conditions or schedule for future funding beyond Ryan’s statement that the department will reevaluate.
