Commissioners schedule public hearing on four agricultural preservation district applications

Kent County planning staff and the Agriculture Preservation Advisory Board reviewed four applications to create agricultural preservation districts and forwarded favorable recommendations. The Planning Commission also reviewed the applications and confirmed the parcels meet requirements: zoned agricultural, outside the water and sewer service area, and located within the county's priority preservation area.
Staff recommendation and action: Rob Tracy, associate planner with the Department of Planning and Zoning, recommended introducing the four districts and scheduling a public hearing so the formal review and approval process can proceed. A commissioner moved to schedule the hearing; the motion received a second and passed by voice vote.
Next steps: The hearing will allow property owners, neighbors and other stakeholders to provide comment before the planning commission and board consider final action.
