Glenview CCSD 34 approves resolution supporting District 225’s withdrawal from True North cooperative

District staff said District 225 is pursuing a withdrawal pathway that does not include the same external evaluator process the board used but that 225 has submitted or will submit a comprehensive plan to the Illinois State Board of Education for approval. “This indicates our support that 225 has assembled all the necessary, requirements to, exit accordingly and would like to exercise their rights to do so,” staff said.
Staff and board members also discussed that District 225 has been building in-house capacity, including purchasing a building in Northbrook for transition students, and that the board believes local education in the students’ home communities is preferable where feasible. Board members voted by roll call; the resolution carried.
The vote is separate from the district’s budget discussion but related to fiscal planning: staff noted the tentative FY26 budget assumes a withdrawal-related budgeted expense (see budget article). The resolution asks member districts to approve District 225’s request as part of cooperative procedures.
