Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Eric Miller told the Board of Education that the transfers are the final step in funding the district’s construction work tied to the referendum. “This is just the final culmination, asking the board to approve a resolution in the open, in the regular meeting that approves 8,500,000.0 moving from the Ed Fund to O and M,” Miller said.
Miller said the $8.5 million will first move from the Education Fund to the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) fund; a second resolution moves those funds from O&M into the Capital Projects fund to finish construction. Miller said the district is treating the transfers as the final funding steps to conclude the construction work.
Board members discussed and then voted by roll call on two related resolutions. The roll-call votes were unanimous in favor. The board approved the interfund transfer from the Education Fund to O&M and then approved the transfer from O&M to Capital Projects.
The transfers are tied in the district’s broader budget assumptions for fiscal year 2026, which Miller said includes estimated construction costs and other capital items. Board members did not amend the dollar amount during discussion; the district presented the motion and proceeded to roll-call votes.
The board’s action moves money between internal funds; no new tax levy or external borrowing was proposed in these motions. Implementation steps noted by staff include processing the transfers in the district’s accounting system and applying the Capital Projects funds to the referenced referendum construction work.
