SD#2 board approves emergency replacement for school bus with state reimbursement

The Laramie County School District #2 Board of Trustees approved a request May 12 to purchase an emergency replacement route bus after a vehicle on route developed engine and after‑treatment system failures.
"Back in early April we got a bus, bus number 55, with engine failure and after treatment system failure," the district transportation staff member said. The presenter told the board the district applied to the state for emergency replacement and was approved for maximum reimbursement "of up to a hundred and 61,400," with a small prorated deduction for an optional item that the district will not accept.
A board motion authorized district administration to purchase a replacement route bus (motion: Michael; second: Jared). The board then voted in favor. The transportation staff said the approved state reimbursement would substantially offset the purchase price and that the district sought board authorization so staff could proceed with the replacement.
The board did not vote on a specific purchase contract at the meeting; the action approved administration to proceed with the emergency replacement procurement under the state reimbursement terms described at the meeting.
