The motion to recommend B-2 passed on a roll-call vote with the commissioners present voting yes. Staff noted that certain uses — for example, an oil change — require B-3 zoning, and any use allowed in the ultimately approved zoning district would be the permissible uses for that parcel.
The recommendation will go to the City Council, which has the authority to act on the rezoning request. Commissioners said the approach allows the applicant to decide whether to accept the more restrictive recommendation before the council hears the matter.
