The Emmett Independent District board approved a plan to update and enclose part of the high-school athletic-field concession stand and authorized staff to proceed with work up to $35,000 before the board must review any larger commitment.
Mister Parks summarized a phased plan presented by the PTO/touchdown club: phase 1 would enclose an additional 12 feet of the concession area and address exterior finishes (pressure washing, paint, fascia repair); anticipated cost for phase 1 was roughly $16,000. Phase 2 would address restroom remodeling and access improvements to serve PE classes and event attendees; staff estimated $14,000 to modernize fixtures and lighting, plus additional costs if the district expands the footprint or reconfigures plumbing.
Mister Buck moved to approve the updates and renovations; the motion was seconded and the board voted to authorize work up to $35,000. Trustees instructed staff to return to the board if the cost estimate exceeded that amount so the board could consider next steps.
During discussion trustees asked facilities staff whether metal siding or different finishes would be more durable; staff said they would obtain cost comparisons and also evaluate the building's structural condition before large expansions. If structural reinforcement is required that could increase costs and bring the project back to the board.
The board's approval clears the way for contractors to begin measurements and procurement for the enclosure work; restroom renovation work will proceed as funds and structural findings allow.
